NICOLAS CAGE SUPERMAN COMIC SETS AUCTION RECORD

The rich get richer. From 15 cents to 2.16 million

Nicolas Cage’s rare copy of Action Comics No. 1 went under the hammer yesterday for USD 2.16 million, setting record for a single comic book sold. Approximately 100 copies of Action Comics No. 1 remain in existence, though few are kept in such pristine condition as Cage’s.

Assigned a grade of 9.0 by Certified Guaranty Company, Cage’s Action Comics No. 1 was stolen from his house in 2000 and found in a San Fernando Valley storage locker in April. The American actor, who named his son Kal-El after Superman’s Kryptonian birth name, dubbed the recovery "divine provenance".

The original copy, which came out in the 1938, cost about USD 15 cents.

Troy and Abed Rap in "Community" Finale

News surfaced last week that one of my favorite shows, Community would go on an indefinite hiatus after the season finale this Thursday at 8:00 p.m. on NBC (which really sucks because it's one of the really original and funny shows on TV). However, the show plans on going out with a bang, as you can see from the above clip of Troy and Abed rapping about Christmas.

In an effort to convince Troy (Donald Glover) that celebrating Christmas is admissible despite his Jehovah's Witness beliefs, Abhed (Danny Pudi) makes him believe he would merely be a spy ("Jehovah's most secret witness"), which launches them into Lonely Island-esque rap segue about saving Christmas.

Sidenote: Donald Glover is one talented cat, he's a stand up comedian, actor (and a writer on the show), and as of late a pretty dope rapper (he goes by the name Childish Gambino)!

Last month he dropped his debut album Camp, please do yourself a favor and get hip!

Live from Studio 85

Studio 85 is Washington D.C.’s newest destination for all things exclusive and fashionable. Owned and operated by three sisters Tammi, Tamika, and Tiffany this independent boutique popped up only a few months ago and have made an immediate impact on the scene.

Their brick and mortar store is a well balanced mix of urban and chic. In one visit you can pick up anything from t-shirts and books to vintage dresses and accessories. The red brick walls are adorned with the original work by independent artist and photographers here in the DMV, most of the art is for sale. Studio 85 houses vintage jewelry and accessories while showcasing designers from DC to California.

You can also find very cool lifestlye products littered throughout the store, everything from paper weights and purses to high quality leather passport holders. I love their approach, it makes every visit to their store seem like an adventure where you can find something cool and new.

Demeanor has always taken pride in being an independent brand and was built in the spirit of ‘boutique’. We’ve always focused on creating exclusive products in limited quantities however in high quality, much like Studio 85, which is why our brand will now be sold there.

We're very appreciative of the immediate response that we've recived from Studio 85's customers about our brand. There has been a lot of feedback and requests for certain items in certain colors and sizes and we definately aim to please so be on the lookout for a few older brand favorites in new colorways.

In the future we will be dropping products exclusively to this location, so if there is an item sold out at our online shop be sure to check here to see if they have any stock.

Studio 85 is located at 53 Florida Ave NW, Washington DC 20001. Do yourself a favor and drop in the shop, the ladies there are awesome, while your shopping you'll be offered a light beverage and fruit, and really made to feel at home!

Happy Holloween

There are two things that always remind me of Holloween and Geto Boys' Mind Playing Tricks On Me is definately one of those! Not sure if it's the beat, the darkness of the video or Bushwick Bill rapping 'this year Holloween fell on the weekend, me and Geto Boys was trick or treating' but I can't let the 31st pass without this song on repeat.

The other thing is R.L. Stein's Goosebumps which I actually caught an episode of last night. No one can fake like Goosebumps wasn't the illest book series ever written (and later converted to a pretty cool TV show). When we were younger the stories were actually kind of scary, and the book covers were the dopest thing around, it got to the point that I would collect these books just for the covers.

So anyway Happy Holloween, be safe, and get a few cavities!

Art is Life

We had a chance to catch up with our homie Renada this weekend, as she continues the preperations for her big 'Art is Life Show'!

When it's inked in the skin, it's the real deal!

Renada on her directing duties.

Ofcourse Demeanor will be one of the brands featured in the show, so it was cool that we had a chance to hand pick some of the models that will be representing the DM, and walking in some of our summer previews!
I have to say I have a new respect for models after seeing how hard everyone worked at perfecting their walk and timing, this is serious business.

The 'Art is Life Show' will be held Sunday May 15th @ The Arch Theater (Mississippi Ave, Southeast Washington DC). We'll be posting more information on the show as the date gets closer so stay tuned!
John's Mohawk is taking on a life of its own.

Trump: Will Spend $600M For President Campaign

Billionaire business mogul Donald Trump is ready to shell out $600 million of his own cash to become President of the United States. He told ABC’s “Good Morning America” last week that his name recognition would probably save him “hundreds of millions of dollars” compared with other candidates. My favorite part is when Trump was asked if he had $600 million to spare, Trump's reply was: "Much more than that. That's one of the nice things. I mean, part of the beauty of me is that I'm very rich. So if I need $600 million, I could put up $600 million myself".

And in case you didn't know or conveniently forgot, Trump’s net worth is $2.7 billion, making him the 137th richest person in the U.S., according to Forbes magazine.

R.I.P. Nate Dogg

Long before Akon or T-Pain there was the hook master Nate Dogg who I pretty much grew up on, so i was sad to hear the news this morning:

Via Complex:
Nathaniel D. Hale, better known as Nate Dogg, passed away late Tuesday night at the age of 41. Press-Telegram reported the death of the Long beach rapper-singer, but did not specify the cause of death. It's been known that the G-Funk soul singer had been sick and suffered a strock back in 2007 and another one in 2008.

He will be missed!

New Superhero Trailers

The world has been waiting for a few months now to get their first look at the new Captain America movie due out this summer... I don't know about the world but after watching the trailer during the Super Bowl last night, I was unimpressed. I know that it's unfair and unreasonable to judge an entire movie based on a 30 second trailer but first impression are important right? While Captain America certainly has potential to be great, his costume at first glance looks a little Geeky and the action scenes seemed a little underwhelming, however I hope that i'm proved wrong when a few more trailers drop.

The Norse God of Thunder, Thor looks to be a classic Marvel movie in the making. From the scenes shown, it appears that very close attention to detail was paid not only to the characters but especially to realm of Asgard (home of the Norse Gods), where the environment comes off as serious and awe inspiring instead of shiny and corny.

The Deceptacons launch an all-out-assault on Earth is what I’m guessing happens this time around, it's hard to figure out what's going on from this Trailer, however Optimus Prime looks awesome! I hope the story is much better than Transformers 2 but one thing this movie won't lack is action.

Supra Skytop II (Air Max 95)

Besides the fact that this shoe goes great with the "Eat My Words" tee, i'm a sucker for the Air Max 95 in any color way, so of course I would love the Supra Skytop version of my favorite shoe! While I kind of wish the front of the sole would've been colored neon green, I still dig their interpretation of the shoe as well as the way they handled the gradients from top to bottom. I can't wait to see rest of the Spring/Summer 2011 collection which will be released in the coming weeks.

Lupe Fiasco "Words I Never Said" Teaser

This is a great promo video, it's not one of those annoying 58 second video snippets of a video that'll hit the net in two days, and it's creative for the fact that instead of hearing Lupe rap you’re forced to read the lyrics on the animated LED signs and billboards which have a much deeper impact.

The video is seen as controversial, however if you’ve been a Lupe Fiasco fan for a while, you know that these are pretty standard lyrics for the Chicago bread Muslim:

“It’s so loud inside my head / with words I should have said / I can’t take back the words I never said / War on terror is a bunch of bullshit…”

The single is scheduled for a February 1 premiere, and it’s good to see Lupe will finally be releasing Lasers March 8th.
