VOID Watches

If you know me, then you know I love watches. The other day I stumbled across a brand I never heard of before, called Void. All of their designs are very creative and extremely different from your average watch. I think I'll be adding one to the collection very soon.

Created by Swedish designer David Ericsson, Void watches possess design with an architectural feel featuring geometric shapes and materials. The watch faces are half glass and half stainless steel and currently come in three models: digital, analog, and a new model with an LED display. The solid stainless steel case comes in multiple finishes like white, gold, copper, black, shiny chrome and brushed chrome, as well as several colors of leather bands

Nixon Rubber Player Spring 2011

Nixon has released three brand new colorways of it's popular Rubber Player watch for Spring '11. I'm not a huge seafoam or green/navy color guys so i'll have to say that the black/pink is by far the standout of this collection . However all three watches are available now at Nixon.

Nooka is trying something new with its new offering the Yogurt. The Yogurt is actually their very first round shaped watch however this watch keeps true to Nooka’s used of soft and flexible polyurethane. This watch tells time with a display that incorporates digital hexagons that comprise the hour in the middle while minutes circle the outer watch. Swizz Beatz & Aston Martin Presents the Aston Martin Rapide

I am very much aware that this is a car commercial but man, could the scene with Swizz be any flyer? Did you see that watch?! Incredible! The attention to detail in this 2 minute video is impeccable, it's looks like it's ready to be made into a full movie, and I can't wait to see the other parts that will follow. Oh, and the car is amazing!

52 Year-old James Bond Rolex sells for $66,100

A retired Navy doctor put his 52 year-old diving watch up for sale on eBay at a price of $9.95. After a week, it sold for $66,100.

Randomness like this never happens to anyone that I know but atleast it does happen:

So imagine this: you decide to sell your 52 year-old watch on eBay for $9.95 and when the auction is over you end up with $66,100. Not bad, right? That’s what happened to Bob. The retired Navy doctor decided to sell a few of his old things and put his Rolex Submariner Ref 5510 dive watch up for auction on eBay. He bought the watch from a Navy Exchange 52 years ago and wore it almost every day for more than 35 years.
To his shock, a few days into the auction, his watch started climbing to more than $30,000. After speaking with his son, the two figured out that the watch was an extremely rare model that Sean Connery wore as James Bond in Dr. No, Goldfinger, and Thunderball. During the final hours of the auction, a bidding war rose the price to more than $66,100. (It didn’t hurt that he has a collection of pictures of him wearing the watch, including at a diving party with Superman himself, Christopher Reeve.) For more information about the auction and a bunch of pictures, check out Hodinkee.com.
If you had the choice, would you rather party with Superman or take the $66,100? It would be a tough choice. Christopher Reeve was one cool guy.

Martin Frei Presents the Urwerk CC-1 Cobra

Urwerk watches are amazing; they are meticulously detailed, mechanical, yet graceful masterpieces. They recently released their Black Cobra CC-1 which has the world going crazy. I personally am the type of guy that won't take the time to set watch to match the Day Light Savings time, I’ll just wait for time to spring forward or fall back until my watch is right again. However this video gives a great inside look at how these watches function and why they are so revered.
