The truth is in the colors, not black and white. - Asa Jackson
Asa Jackson was born in Washington D.C. and grew up in Hampton Roads, Virginia.
As a child he was surrounded by art; always interested in the great works that hung
among the walls of museums he visited at home and abroad. While he remembers
drawing at a very young age, it wasn’t until he was in high school that he transitioned
to paint; referencing the first moment he touched a brush to canvas as “instant love”.
"Cassiopeia"
After graduating high school in 2007, Jackson moved to Boston, Massachusetts to attend
Boston University. While in college, he created the lifestyle painted clothing brand True
Face, dabbled in street art, and opened a studio called ‘Waxcity’ where he and his friends
hosted events in an area covered from floor to ceiling in his signature faces.

In his junior year at BU, Jackson decided to leave school to focus on his art career full
time. Since then, he has been commissioned for several private murals, participated in a
public mural project with ALT Daily and the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk, Va, as well
as hung in group shows in Virginia, Philadelphia, and New York. In March 2012 Jackson
exhibited his first solo show in Greenwich, Connecticut at the Samuel Owen Gallery
which features work of artists like Moby, Jeffery Terreson, Dale May, and Andy Warhol
to name a few. Later that year he was the featured artist displayed in conjunction with
the College of William and Mary’s production of “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone”. He
is currently being shown in the community gallery at the Downing-Gross Cultural Arts
Center in Newport News, Virginia where he teaches both youth and adult art classes. In
October 2013, Jackson will participate in a group show at the Fredrick Douglass- Isaac
Myers Maritime Park Museum in Baltimore, Maryland.
"Vanity" in collector's home.
As a man of many talents, Jackson is in continuous creative motion, addressing deep
concepts and truths through various artistic avenues including writing, clothing design,
and paint. His art is playful, “precise, but not precise”, prolific, intense, imaginative,
colorful, and inspiring; a combination of influences from masters of past and his own
unique style that create meaningful and realistic visuals that are all his own.
