Imagine being able to travel across Japan in a matter of days. That is what JR East plans to do. His plans of creating a luxury train service is coming to fruition and should commence by Spring 2016. The service will start in Tohoku and Shinetsu, both quake struck areas. These travels will be completed in a luxury sleeper train specially designed for the mission.
The trains are set to be designed by industrial designer Ken Okuyama. Okuyama also played a part in designing products for Ferrari, Pininfarina, and Tag Heuer. The cars will be equipped with uber-luxury suites, dining cars, and lounge.
