Video: Eminem Discusses His Drug Addiction & Almost Dying

In the clip above, Eminem talks about addiction to prescription pain killers. The clip is from the documentary, How To Make Money Selling Drugs, which takes a look at the nation's outdated drug laws.

The documentary is produced by Adrian Grenier. Grenier played Vinny Chase on HBO's Entourage. On the show, in the midst of his own drug addiction, Grenier's character Chase once got into a fight with Eminem.

In the interview, Eminem is surprisingly animated. Despite being one of the most successful rappers ever, Em has been particularly charismatic during interviews. But here, his pain comes across clearly. 

"People tried to tell me that I had a problem and I would say, 'Get that fucking person out of here, I can't believe they said that shit to me,'" says Em, in the video. "They know nothing about my fucking life, are they out of their fucking mind? I'm not out there shooting heroin, I'm not putting coke up my nose, I'm not smoking crack." 

But of course, prescription pills can be just as dangerous as so-called "hard drugs." 

Watching Em talking about his addiction is like listening to a spoken word version of Relapse's best song (and one of my personal favorite Em tracks), "Deja Vu." On that song, and in this clip, the undeniable humanity of his suffering is what makes it so engaging.

A lot of people hated on Relapse—preferring its softer, more optimistic follow-up, Recovery—and complained about his corny accents (which were definitely annoying at times) but those people tend to overlook how the album is a great look into the mind of a lost soul in a vicious cycle of anger, depression, and addiction. It's ultimately an enlightening look into the depths of darkness. 

Give "Deja Vu" another listen and you'll see what I mean.

Video: Wale Presents "The Gifted" Documentary

Wale teamed up with Revolt TV and released the The Gifted Documentary. The documentary takes us back to the beginning of Wale's career, his Go-Go influence, his complex personality amongst other things and his rise to the top. The documentary even mentioned my birthplace and neighborhood Ardmore. "Wale folks is from Ardwick-Ardmore, Landover, Glenarden and shit ain't sweet." It's not the baddest place in the DMV, but it's not the goodest either. As I grew older I realized the things that I saw and friends that I lost compared to other people was different and "shit wasn't sweet," I say realize because it was the norm for me.  Wale's cousins are from around my way so that was pretty dope seeing that. R.I.P Bo. Enjoy!

News: GQ Magazine To Open Restaurant/Bar In Dubai

I need to get to Dubai soon, everyday I see a post about Dubai this and Dubai that and now GQ is opening a restaurant and bar there which is dope.

Men’s lifestyle magazine GQ is poised to open a sleek new restaurant inside the world’s tallest hotel in Dubai.

After opening the Vogue Cafe at The Dubai Mall in May — likewise the largest shopping center in the world — Condé Nast International has set its sights on planting another flag at the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai.The 994-square-meter GQ Bar will span two floors and serve contemporary cuisine. The new restaurant is set to open in October and, in GQ style, is expected to be a sleek, sophisticated space that attracts the world’s high society.

The opening of the JW Marriott Marquis in February was attended by British singer Leona Lewis, fashion designer Donna Karan, and Dubai TV personality DJ Bliss.

According to the NY Times Jay-Z is set to hold a secret concert on July 8th which is a day after his album Magna Carta Holy Grail is released. I don't know how much of a surprise it's going to be now, but if you're in NY you should go. Below is what the NY Times had to say about the concert.

Jay-Z is planning a surprise concert atop the marquee of the Ed Sullivan Theater next month that will turn rush-hour Times Square into a gigantic street party, sources told The Post yesterday.

The rapper is close to obtaining the necessary approvals for a July 8 “Late Show With David Letterman” performance, the sources said.

The city killed the same plan in the summer of 2010 over concerns about crowd control and security.

“If he gets permission from the mayor’s office, it’s going to be off the hook,” a law-enforcement source said. “They’ll have to shut down Broadway around the Letterman building. They’ll have to have a strong police presence. It’s going to be chaos with so many fans.”

The sources said the concert will likely go off as planned, despite the Bloomberg administration’s decision to pull the plug three years ago.

“It is close. There are a lot of logistical concerns,” one said, including shutting down a large swath of Times Square near the theater, which is between West 53rd and West 54th streets.

But, the source added, “This would be a great event for New York City.”

In 2010, Jay-Z and Eminem moved their concert to the theater’s rooftop, where permits weren’t required, after the city put the kibosh on their initial plan.

I never really watched this show until earlier this year and let me tell you this is some of the sickest ish people could do. You have to be so unproductive and a lame of all sorts or as Niko from Love & Hip Hop would say "damaged" to this to somebody. Social networking was safe when you needed an .edu to actually join facebook.  I think everybody that gets on these sites need to be verified before they join to protect people from the kind of bored creeps that be on this show. Somebody is going to get hurt messing with peoples feelings like this and I won't have any sympathy for them. Word! lol

Versace has just been all over the world this past weekend. First Drake drops a song called "Versace," the Kirko Bang drops one too. Now the Versace hotel is opening in Dubai. 

A sprawling, palatial hotel and residence signed by luxury label Versace is set to open its doors next summer in the heart of Dubai.

Specs for the Palazzo Versace Dubai are impressive. Hotel guests and residents will be offered a range of luxury amenities that include a lagoon, sandy beach, waterfront pedestrian promenade, male and female day spa and salon, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and, of course, a Versace boutique. The property will house 169 condominiums and 214 opulently decorated hotel rooms swathed in rich fabrics and silk, hand-cut marble, bespoke mosaics and hand-drawn, gold-etched vaulted ceilings, all of which have been chosen to evoke European and Italian grandeur.

More than 100 specialists, including top stonemasons and mosaic artists from around the world have been recruited to work on the hotel, 90 percent of whom are artisans based out of the United Arab Emirates.The building exterior evokes Greco-Roman art with a Medusa porte-cochere, elegant pillars and a landscape of water fountains, reflection pools and lagoons.

The Dubai outpost will be the label’s second luxury property in the world after the Palazzo Versace Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, which opened in 2000.

News: Dolce and Gabbana Sentenced To Jail For Tax Evasion

No matter who you are or what country you're in the man will find you. At least they was fresh as hell while the "Fedz was watching."

An Italian court Wednesday sentenced fashion house duo Dolce and Gabbana to 20 months in prison for tax evasion of around one billion euros ($1.33 billion).

Lawyers for Dolce and Gabbana, whose celebrity clients include Beyonce and Madonna, immediately said they will be appealing, and under Italian law the sentence will be suspended in the meantime. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were accused of having transferred control of their brands to a shell company in Luxembourg in 2004 and 2005 to avoid paying Italian taxes.

Prosecutors had argued that setting up the Luxembourg company Gado — an acronym of the surnames of the two designers — while the company was operating out of Italy was a bid to defraud the state.In her closing speech, prosecutor Laura Pedio said there was “rock-solid proof” that the duo had committed “sophisticated tax fraud”.She said Gado was “a sort of cloud with the consistency of gas,” while fellow prosecutor Gaetano Ruta said it was “an artificial construction the aim of which was to get a tax advantage”.

Investigators completed a probe into the designers, as well as five other people, in 2010 and the case was dismissed in April 2011 but reopened in November last year and went to trial.

Founded in 1985, Dolce and Gabbana employs more than 3,000 people and has 250 shops in 40 countries around the world.
